Chromebooks take the lead over Apple iPad’s in US’s K-12 Market

I wrote a post about Google Chrome OS and Chrome computers (here) back in August 2015 in which I recommended it as a very effective low cost and secure OS and computer for general and online surfing.  I actually own a Toshiba chromebook  have been very happy with it especially at a cost of US$299, it’s my travel buddy.  Hence this latest news from Patently Apple (12 Jan., 2016) came at no surprise-market researcher Futuresource Consulting has found that for the very first time, Chromebook sales have surpassed the 51% mark in the K-12 market US nationwide in the third quarter.

I am surprised that it’s not taken off in Hong Kong and Japan (I tried to get one in Tokyo Akihabara and was disappointed to find so few models available), and ended up purchasing from Amazon. But I’m confident that ChromeOS and computers will be more and more popular.  Try it and you will not be disappointed!

Google’s Chromebooks (laptops running Google’s Chrome OS as their operating systems) have made significant strides in growth year over year. Chromebooks’ market share jumped to 51% from 40%.

Apple products, mostly iPads but also laptops and Mac desktops, declined to 24% from 32%. Windows-based machines remained steady at 23%.  Read the whole story here.
