I trust that you’re hooked to Evernote already and are enjoying the wealth of your own Evernote database – which someone calls it a “borrowed brain”! If you have not installed Evernote yet, Do it and have an organised and well informed life (see here).
The wait and need for alternative use of less direct methods (see Note 2 below) to clip online contents while browsing on ipad and iphone to Evernote is over with iOS 8! If you got iOS 8 and the latest Evernote installed on iPad and iPhone, there is a simple and direct way to clip. See Note 1 below, but if you don’t want to upgrade to iOS 8 (for whatever reason), see Note 2 below:Note 1 for iOS 8 users- Whenever you’re on a webpage that you’d like to save, tap the Share icon, then, choose Evernote as your destination. You can select a destination notebook for your clip and add a note. It’s that simple.
Note 2 for older iOS users- it’s still possible! You can of course buy Everclip, but I only (or mostly) use free methods- this time just not as direct. All you need to do is to use javascript, see step by step guide below :-
A. For mobile Safari (default browser in iOS):
- Tap on the bookmark icon (the book next to the address bar) in the upper right of the screen. Go to the bookmark items (either in your Favorites, or if in History , tap the left-facing arrow at the top of the resulting pop up screen to get to the Bookmarks).
- Create a new bookmark or Tap Edit button in the lower right corner of the Bookmarks window, choose a Bookmark you don’t need anymore.
- For Title- type in Evernote clipper into the Title field, and then paste the following Javascript into the address field, making sure you get it all in one go: (don’t worry about the seemingly complicated code, take the leap of faith, it works as I tried and have been using it)

Now, whenever you’re at a page you want to clip to Evernote, simply tap on the Bookmarks icon and choose Evernote clipper from the list. A window will pop up, letting you choose which notebook to send the clip to, along with a way to type in any tags. You’ll also need to Sign in to Evernote the first time you do this.
Note, if you get an error that says, “You must enable your browser to accept third-party cookies,” simply drop into Settings > Safari > Block Cookies and choose “Never.”
B. For Chrome users on your iPad: you need to create a text shortcut on your iPad that contains the above javascript code.
- Go to Settings > General > Keyboard and tap on Add New Shortcut… at the bottom.
- Enter “webclip” in the Shortcut field, and then paste the above code into the Phrase field.Now, in Chrome, simply navigate to any web page you want to clip to Evernote, tap into the address field at the top, and type “webclip” without the quotes (just like it’s a web address). You’ll get the same Evernote pop up window. Make your changes to the tag, notebook, title, or description, and hit the Save button.First,
