Whether continued development learning as part or additions to your ongoing studies (for your profession, etc.) or just for interest at any time of one’s life stage will enhance one’s Carefree Lifestyle is of course up to one’s own assessment. But nowadays, there seems no reason (or excuse) that learning resources are not available. Apart from numerous courses offered in open universities, community organisations (like The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions – 工聯會業餘進修中心), etc. which typically charge for the courses- often at very reasonable prices, there are many online organisations which offer very wide range of courses with free option…

Course topics encompass all areas – both academic and general covering very wide range of interests such as health and wellness, finance (manage your own personal finance), history, critical thinking, photography, managing your identity on social media, different hobbies, big data, computing, programming, …… – basically, one should be able to find many that would be of interest. And attending such online is very simple and flexible. Many of the courses have free option (called ‘Audit’) as well as paid options which offer extras of graded assignments, exams and a final certificate of completion. So if you are only doing it for your own interest or just for fun, you can attend hundreds of these absolutely free of charge!

Let me introduce one such provider LHU – LifeHacker University whose 2016 Fall Semester course have just been announced, many of these courses are hosted by professors from prestigious university worldwide. You can find these here which also have a very useful link to many other similar and popular providers of online educational courses such as edX, Udemy, The Khan Academy, etc. Have a look and you can certainly find something  of interest for you to pursue at your own pace and in the comfort of your home.  Enjoy!

Some tips – under LHU, if for some courses you cannot find the link to “Audit” (the free option to join), you may be  on a specialization page, which always requires payments. You can do this – copy and paste the course name into the search bar, search the course, then go through there to enroll using either “Full course no cert” or “audit” option.
