Dafun Art Village is unique place, where more than 800 galleries and 5,000 artists working in the village cluster and narrow lanes. It is the largest producer of oil paintings in the world- where else can you find a Van Gough masterpiece (which look almost like the real one) for a couple of hundred yuan or less, where you can also find and buy paintings to decorate your whole restaurant for a budget of a couple of thousand yuan? This is a fascinating place,you can see artists in action working on originals or copying famous pieces. – more information here . Going to Dafen Art Village is straight-forward. It is about a 25-minute (RMB90) cab ride from central Shenzhen. Alternatively, you can take the one-hour trip via the green Luobao metro line and the blue Longgang line (see this SZ metro map). If you go from Hong Kong, cross the border at Louhu and straight to the subway, take the Green Line 1- Luobao Line for 2 stations, change at Loujie Station to Blue Line 3- Longang Line for 8 stations to Dafun. Outside the station, walk back from the direction you’re travelling and find Walmart, continue for another 5 minutes or so, you’ll find this village cluster, where there are sculptures and colorful murals.
